Cold winter day on Hoover Reservoir

Icy fog blows across Hoover Reservoir as temperatures dropped below zero degrees and wind whips the lake’s surface drawing moisture from the warmer waters. It’s a rare event that fog forms on the lake in midwinter. When it does the results are stunning just as this photo shows. On other occasions moisture in the air freezes on the trees creating hoar frost, another rare but beautiful expression of winter’s possibilities. Prints, both large format and smaller prints, are available through The Gardiner Gallery at Java Central or via the┬áContact Page on this site.
